Copyediting

For this project I completed for class, I was asked to perform a light copyedit for San Fran Wings', a non-profit aviation club, newsletter. Using the proofreading/copyeditor's marks, I followed the style guide provided to me as well as the Chicago Manual of Style to suggest revisions and enhance clarity, ensure consistency, and correct both mechanical and language errors on the printed document.

This document shows my ability to comfortably apply my knowledge as a copyeditor to topics and documents of all forms. For instance, for this particular newsletter, I not only used the resources I listed above, but I also used the Dictionary of Aviation to ensure that the correct words and jargon were used. This process was added in order to increase clarity for the audience.

I would also like to mention that due to an injury sustained on my dominant hand, I edited this piece both in pencil and with my non-dominant hand. If there is interest in seeing the disctinctions between my marks and the text more clearly, please email me and I will send clearer copies.
