ABOUT ME

Growing up I always said, “I want to create characters that ruin people’s expectations of reality.” This hope to create chatacters that impact or change a person's life in some way is what linked me to writing and editing from the moment I learned to read at the age of four. However, once I finally grew up, creating, writing, and editing became more of the same thing. My passion for books sparked my interest in becoming a double major in English and Professional Writing at Michigan State University. Through my time there, I have developed my skills in editing, writing, and researching, and although I possess all of these skills, I am first and foremost an editor.

As an editor I can be anything I desire; I can be a researcher by thumbing through resources and manuals for references on a particular topic; I can be a writer by rearranging sentences and structures in order to enhance clarity and appeal to the reader; I can be a creator by adding punctuation and word choices that help further the author’s described intent. That’s what I love about being an editor. I don’t choose one thing. I choose everything.

I have experience as a managing editor, co-managing editor, copyeditor, writer, typesetter, and social media manager. These opportunities, along with my current network of professionals, trained me into an editor who not only is efficient and diligent, but also passionate about her work. I learned how to effectively communicate with editors and authors while explaining my revisions as well as lead teams from four to eighteen people in producing written, visual, and edited content, meeting specific production deadlines. I plan to use my skills and experiences to find a career where I can not only grow and thrive as an editor, writer, and researcher, but also where I can walk into work, truly enjoying the job I am doing.
